Our Story

During one cool December evening in 2019, a small group of merrymakers decided to do some carolling the old-fashioned way. They visited the Mang Urot soup kitchen at Kuya Benjie's home and got ready to sing.

God had other plans though.  The singing had to be done while people were eating (otherwise they would get hungrier with the kind of voices we had!)

We had a chat with 2 people waiting for their food.  Ate Lorna and Kuya Bong were friendly and cheerful.  They told one of the volunteers that they were eager to work.  They talked about what type of job they were interested in and what skills they had.  The volunteer then thought of looking for jobs for them.

The very next day, a friend offered both of them a job!

Thus, the Mang Urot Job Matching Project was born.

We are a group of volunteers who are trying to help these people, most of whom are homeless wanderers around Quezon City.  They come to the Karinderia ni Mang Urot (Mang Urot's soup kitchen) during Friday, Saturday and Sunday dinners.

We hope you will join us in this effort.  We are not affiliated with any NGOs, government or international organizations.  We are just some Filipinos who wish to make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most.

If you cannot give anyone a job or give food, or serve the food during the dinners, please consider praying for successful job matches.  We really need the prayers and we really appreciate it!

Karinderia ni Mang Urot (KMU) started in 201
